As the country gears for next year’s general elections, the Hustler nation under the stewardship of DP William Ruto landed in Makueni County where rallies were characterized by big crowds.
With different political leaders traversing the country to drum up support for their presidential bid come 2022, Deputy President William Ruto is leaving nothing to chance as far as his presidential ambitions are concerned.
On Tuesday September 21, The DP wrapped up his two-day tour of the Lower Eastern region by holding mega roadsides at Emali Town in Kibwezi West Constituency, Makueni County .
While speaking at the town, Ruto continued with his attacks on a section of leaders, saying he will ensure that next year’s general elections is all about the problems facing the common citizens and the economy, and not about position sharing by top leaders.
“We shall stop those who have been uniting and telling us to change our constitution. It is not about leaders at the top, but the mama mbogas and watu wa pikipiki who are all over the country” The DP said.
This comes days after the DP met with a section of leaders from Ukambani at Amboseli in Kajiado to deliberate on issues affecting the region and popularise the hustler nation.
The Kitui East MP Nimrod Mbai, who accompanied the DP, took issues with Raila Odinga, claiming he neglected the region, despite voting overwhelmingly for him in 2017.
Mbai vowed that the national assembly will review the recent rise in fuel taxes on the next sitting to ease the burden on cool citizens.
Among the leaders present included Nimrod Mbai (Kitui East) and his Kajiado counterpart Katuu Ole Metito.
This comes at a time when most online opinion polls have placed DP Ruto as the man to beat in 2022. In the recent poll conducted by Kiss FM under Radi Africa, 54% of the listeners endorsed Ruto as their preferred President, while 34% voted for ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga.
ANC Party Leader Musalia Mudavadi was endorsed by only 10% of all listeners, with Baringo Senator Gideon Moi getting a roughly over 2%.
