Makueni county IEBC coordinator, AISHA Mohammed said the Nguu Masumba by-elections will be handled effectively.
She allayed fears of delays in the by-elections and exuded confidence that the commission was up to the task despite the perceived image on the current state of the IEBC.
During a stakeholders meeting held at Makueni County Commissioner’s office on Thursday Aisha confirmed that training of officers who will oversee the by election was ongoing.
“All the 34 polling station will be fumigated, all covid-19 guidelines will strictly be followed. The commission will avail adequate hand washing zones as well as sanitizers” said Aisha
Makueni County Commissioner Maalim Mohammed distanced himself from ongoing rumors that one of the candidate will use government officers to rig the election. He termed the allegations as baseless.
“All government officers will ensure the election is free and fair, we are not in any way involved in politics” added Mohammed
The by election has attracted three candidates: Timothy Maneno (Independent), Eshio Mwaiwa (Wiper Party) and Daniel Kivuva Musau (UDA)
